My Garden Assistant Privacy Policy

Your garden stays on your own devices
Your plants, their photos, their health history and your gardens are stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account, using Apple's private CloudKit database. We cannot see any of it. It is not uploaded to our servers, it does not appear in any account we hold, and deleting the app or your iCloud data removes it.
What is sent to us
- A plant photo, when you ask for an identification. It is sent over HTTPS to our identification service and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API, which identifies the plant and assesses its visible health. The photo is not stored by us once the identification completes.
- An anonymous installation identifier. A random identifier generated on your device and kept in its keychain. It is used only to enforce fair-use limits. It is not linked to your name, email address or Apple ID by us, and it is not shared with anyone.
- Usage counts — how many identifications and care lookups that identifier has made today — stored only to enforce those limits.
We also keep care information for each plant species (watering, pruning, propagation and so on). That describes the species, not you, and is shared by everyone who grows the same plant.
What we do not collect
No account, no sign-in, no email address, no name, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS. Working out what your garden needs happens entirely on the device, and no data leaves it to produce a reminder.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Subscription status is validated via RevenueCat (revenuecat.com/privacy).
Third parties
- Apple — payments, and iCloud storage of your own garden data
- RevenueCat — subscription validation
- Google Firebase — hosting for the identification service
- Anthropic — AI plant identification and health assessment
Your data and your rights
Because your garden is held in your own iCloud account rather than by us, you control it directly: delete a plant, delete the app, or manage the app's data in your iCloud settings.
The anonymous identifier and its usage counts expire on their own and are not tied to you. If you would like them removed sooner, or have any question about this policy, please get in touch using the contact below.
